Wormy Chestnut Flooring is milled from old barn boards and sawn from old barn timbers. We supply random lengths from 3 feet through 16 feet, and widths up to 15 inches net face of any combination. These photos replicate the rich aged character you will have in your Chestnut floors. You will find nail and spike holes in these planks along with some original saw marks in your floor. Antique Chestnut flooring will have a both light and heavy worm holes and insect tracks. Antique Flooring has sound checks up to 1/8 inch. The Chestnut Floors we create for you will have sound and open knots. As always with Antique Flooring you and your flooring contractor will decide to fill open knots or cross cut them out. Wormy Chestnut has a natural range in color. Your Flooring Boards will range in tones from golden honey to some darker brown colors. Traditional random Widths were used to fully utilize the mill run lumber with minimum waste. We can create a floor of any design for you in random or single width. Your Floor can have any combination of widths, and Patterns of Equal Lineal footage. Custom Long Lengths are still requested in Antique Wormy Chestnut. Reclaimed Chestnut Floors are offered in one grade these days. Occasionally a low rustic grade is created for walls and ceilings, not floors.

Grades
Bright Resawn FaceThe colors for this grade is brighter and lacks the hundred and fifty year old Patina usually associated with Antique Wood Floors. All the normal characteristics like worm holes, checks, knots, bolt and nail holes occur much less then either Original Surface, or Patina Grade. This grade can be used more formally is usually much harder to find and has a price that reflects its Scarcity. Patina GradePatina Grade has the original surface created by over 150 years of aging. Presented without the heavy saw marks usually associated with Original Surface Grade very light sanding is required for installation. Beautiful brown, tan and amber tones are extremely unique to this grade. All the normal characteristics of Antique Flooring like, occasional saw marks, worm holes, checks, knots, bolt, and nail holes occur randomly. |
