Exotic Hardwood Floors

Exotic Hardwood Floors from Selectively Harvested Certified Forests of 5 continents are represented here. No sensitive, exploited, watch list, or endangered species are represented here. Even though marketing names like Rosewood are used they are different species from the prized ones on the watch lists. Regardless of their marketing name, I must use for search engine reasons or I would use their botanical name, are from cycled certified forests. You will find Exotic Floors in Select / Clear grade, with random lengths between 3 feet and 8 feet, and any width combination up to 6 inches can be found in this section. We achieve a grade of Select / Clear, 20 percent Select Grade and 80 percent Clear Grade. Select has some slight blemish, and slight color problems of near Clear beauty. For better utilization or less waste of the resource, we leave in Select and let you and your Floor Installer decide if cutting out these slight imperfections is needed. Exotic Hardwood Floors without shorts below 3 feet in length has a nicer look, is vastly different, and well worth the small upgrade in price difference, if any. Some contractors throw out the one and two foot pieces normally found in floors purchased through distribution to get this nicer, longer look. All our Exotic Floors are dried and manufactures in the USA. This avoids the variations and high moisture content in these floors that are being delivered randomly to distribution suppliers, from problem suppliers in other countries. Any floor 3 inch and wider, that has higher then required moisture content for your area, can shrink quickly after installation to over an eighth inch gap between boards. Our certified lumber that’s dried here defeats this moisture problem and allows the use of Exotics up to ten inches in width, regardless of species, which can be installed in most areas of the country. This also includes Cumaru, Brazilian Teak. For widths greater then 6 inch and/or lengths longer then 8 feet please see; Wide Plank Flooring section.
